FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in your wedding photography packages?

Our wedding photography packages include photography by Eric and Sara to provide a selection of different angles and especially two creative perspectives throughout the day’s events. We've expereinced our own wedding day in front of the cameras and have photographed together since 2004.

Eric photographs with an eye for graphic art with the album design in mind. Using quick reflexes and strong technical craft combined he produces stunning images in any variety of settings. Using fast lenses to photograph without flash and capture the feel of the moment, these candid and natural expressions soon become favorites as the emotions of the day are remembered in each photo. (More in our bio page)

Sara sees art in the everyday. Her keen eye for composition is surpassed only by a welcoming personality. Her non-invasive approach allows the bride to prepare and share moments with her bridesmaids and family uninterrupted and unscripted. Her intimate bridal preparation photos show the anticipation as the bride prepares for her amazing day. (More in our bio page)

In reality you are hiring a fun, creative and much in love couple to join you for your special day. We've seen what a wedding is like from both sides of the camera and know how the planning and preparation pays off in celebration and elation on the wedding day.

Fine Art Album Design

Our attention to detail is shown as the details and personal touches are shown in each album. We start each page from scratch, our photographs full of your memories and creative design that never gets trapped in loose prints and pre-determined layout pockets.

When else can you rip a photo, melt a photo, colorize a photo without losing the original? Not even in album scrap booking or photo collages. Glue is hard to remove. Creative digital design and high-quality finished pages means your Fine Art Album will be shown proudly and never fall apart.

What is "artistic documentary" photography?

A wedding photography package by EB Photography includes unlimited digital capture for the coverage of your package. There are no hidden charges for "extra film." We use Nikon 35mm-style digital SLR equipment that allows us to move and react quickly while creating artistic images of your special day. Our approach shows off both the artistic and complex photographic craft combined to capture creative images in technically challenging environments.

Documentary photography by EB Photography shows the events as they happen throughout the early preparation, the ceremony, and reception. This differently artistic point of view means that your photographers make it our responsibility to capture the details, moments and expressions connected with your wedding day and not your moments in terms of “shots to get.”

During the ceremony your photographers are unobtrusive and work quietly from many angles to show all sides of the ceremony. By looking for and understanding how to anticipate a great photograph, your photographers are able to save time after the ceremony by not relying on recreated or static photos of the ceremony. Portrait sessions are organized to move smoothly and get everyone to the celebration at the reception.

Will You Be the Photographer? Do You Have an Assistant?

The photographers you meet are the photographers who will photograph your wedding. It is becoming more common to see photographers offering "two photographer packages" to include an assistant you may not meet or see his or her work before the wedding. Your photographers Eric and Sara have photographed together since 2004, have shared our own wedding day in fornt of the camera, and work together to tell your amazing story.

What equipment do you use?

Throughout the day we use a variety of equipment to capture the moments and details from a creative point of view. While there is endless editing that can be done to an image once inside the computer, any knowledgeable photographer will tell you that a good image begins in the camera. The darkroom (or computer editing) is where that image is further enhanced to become a work of art.

Camera Equipment We Use

  • Nikon D300 12megapixel DSLR body
    with MB-D10 vertical grip
  • 2 Nikon D200 10 megapixel DSLR body

We think of the camera bag as our tool box. Each piece of equipment has been chosen for a specific use and the final photographic print in mind. It is not the brand name of the camera or its accessories (or number thereof) that matter when viewing your photographs, it is the quality of the print. It is not the camera model you will remember when seeing your photographs, it is the moment and its emotion that was captured by the camera.

Photography is about seeing - seeing the moment and seeing the final image while composing the photograph in the viewfinder. When looking for a photographer don't let megapixels, media brands, or the alphabet soup of lens classes cloud your good judgment about your photographer's work. See your photographer's work in print and judge for yourself. Once the wedding day has come and gone the prints are the only part of the photography package you'll see.

(speaking of) Lens Alphabet Soup

"Fast lenses" / Prime Lenses" :: These "fast" lenses (having their widest apertures of f/1.4-2.8) allow more existing light to the camera than the majority of other lenses, making sharp images possible in lower light and without a flash.

AF-S :: AF-S lenses feature a "silent wave" motor that reduces lens focusing noise and increases focusing speed. This is a great help for hushed ceremonies and catching fast action.

VR :: These lenses feature Vibration Reduction that also assists in lower existing light to produce images in natural lighting and to keep photos at a distance sharper.

DX :: lenses designed specifically for the digital SLR bodies.

What About Black & White or Sepia Photos?

Wedding Day Creative Colorization by EB Photography

All images are captured in full, vivid color. From here they can be transformed into a variety of styles.

Black and white is part of the creative viewpoint enjoyed by your photographers, and is included at no cost. Images are also presented as sepia (antique, brown tone) or “de-saturated” to show faint color over a black and white image. Select images will also be partially colorized over a black and white image.

Our online proofing & ordering allows viewers to take any color image and have it printed as either a back & white or sepia photograph.

Portraits are our most cherished historical documents. Family, Bridal Party and Group Portraits are included to remember this eventful day and to record family history. We'll step in and keep things moving so we can complete your grouping requests and get everyone to the reception quickly. Your photographers will work to meet your requests, groupings, and spontaneous instances throughout the wedding day.

Can I get a CD or DVD to print my photos?

We offer high resolution images on DVD-R to provide a way for you to make prints when and where you choose. Sometimes called "Digital Originals" or "Digital Negatives" you need to be careful what you are getting if you hear these terms from other photographers. Here's a reason why:

We found that many photographers offer the "digital negatives" which can easily total several thousands of images taken on your wedding day, especially if it's "a copy of everything taken." While this sounds great, often times these "as shot" photos have no brightness or color corrections like proofs you've seen online. Unless you're set up to work at a color-corrected monitor the changes made at home may not match the prints you get from edits made on your own. Don't worry! We've done the work for you.

All of our images on the High Resolution Disc are the same as you will see on the web gallery and proof book. Each has been adjusted to make a great print. Images are categorized and numbered exactly as seen online and in the proof book for easy referencing.

How is our album designed?

Our packages including an album feature personalized design by Eric. In the classic style of a photo essay your wedding day will unfold before you on the pages of your album. Pages are designed to continue a theme, a moment in the day, or a certain emotion from one page to the next.

During the album design, your favorite images are highlighted in the full two page spread designs created to compliment your wedding colors and flowers, the dresses, tuxedoes, the car, and the details in the photographs themselves.

Gift and parent album copies can be ordered at any time in a selection of album sizes.

From the start to finish, from your wedding day to print design, Eric shows his photo and design creativity to make your wedding day’s memories into a storybook that will tell your love story over and over again.
